Aspects
Aspects are the geometric relationships between planets. What makes a chart come alive is not the individual positions of the planets, but the way they talk to one another. Aspects read this dialogue — some flowing, some tense.
There are five major aspects. The soft aspects (sextile, trine) describe flow and talent; the hard aspects (square, opposition) describe tension and growth; the conjunction is neutral and takes its color from the planets involved. Remember: a challenging aspect does not mean “bad” — it is often where the growth comes from.
